  • Do I need my wedding shoes before I can buy a dress?
Not at all! We would recommend doing some dress shopping before you buy your shoes, as many brides find that the dress they end up falling in love with isn’t exactly what they had imagined! You don’t need to have your wedding shoes until you start your alterations 6 weeks or so before your big day. You’ll certainly need them by this time as your seamstress will need to know how tall you’ll be to get a perfect hemline.
  • How long does it take for my dress to arrive?
Here at House of Boêmia, all of our dresses are made right here in Hampshire. Once you’ve placed an order for your dress with us, you can expect it to take between 4 and 5 months for it to arrive in store, and sometimes much sooner. Rest assured we will let you know of any updates on your order, and of course give you that exciting call once it’s arrived!
  • Do we need to bring anything to an appointment?
There’s nothing you’ll need to bring with you except yourself and up to 3 guests. We’ll have everything you need to get the most out of your appointment. We would, however, recommend wearing some neutral, skin-tone underwear so you can see more closely what your dress will look like on your wedding day. If you have your shoes already please feel free to bring them along, but this definitely isn’t a ‘must’ at this stage.
  • What should I expect within one of your appointments?
Each of our appointments is personal to you and one-to-one with either Bethany or Lauren, owners of the boutique and experienced Bridal Stylists. We never have more than one bridal appointment at any one time so you’ll have the barn all to yourself for the duration of your visit. This ensures each and every bride gets that VIP experience and our undivided attention and expertise. Our appointments last for up to 2 hours and during this time we’ll be guided by you and your choices, listening to your preferences and advising you through our gorgeous collection of dresses. You’ll have plenty of time to try on different styles and if you happen to find your perfect dress with us, we’ll lead you carefully through the ordering process, too.
  • How far in advance should I look for my dress?
It’s never too early! However, we would recommend starting your dress hunt about a year before your wedding. This gives you plenty of time to visit a handful of shops and find out what you love with no pressure. Then, once you’ve found your dream outfit, go ahead and place an order! It may seem like this is very early, but depending on who you order with and where your dress is coming from it can take around 6 months for it to be ordered in. You’ll also need to allow additional time for any alterations you’re likely to need in the run up to your big day. So, if you’ve got a date for your wedding and you think you’ve found ‘The One’, go ahead and order it as it’s much better to have your dress sorted and waiting for you rather than worrying about if you’ll find one in time.
  • What style of dresses do you sell?
House of Boêmia specialises in bohemian styled dresses for free-spirited and adventurous brides. Our dresses are a collection of soft, unstructured silhouettes, dreamy fabrics and non-traditional styles. Take a look at our current collection here.
  • I don’t have any idea what styles I like, can you help?
Yes! As experienced Bridal Stylists, Bethany and Lauren are able to guide you through this journey and make thoughtful suggestions. We’ll spend a little time at the beginning of your appointment finding out about your plans for your wedding so far, and a little about you and your personality. It’s all about finding out what makes you feel good!
