Welcome to our styled shoot “boho meets punk bride”. We really wanted to show off a shoot inspired by nature, mainly focusing on deep autumnal vibes. This is why we knew The Barn at Avington, set in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, was the venue to showcase this theme so perfectly. We have a bohemian wedding dress collection that focuses on natural cream laces and sleeves full of drama. Our dresses also reflect a chilled and funky wedding that encourages the bride’s creative whimsical personality to shine. Dried flowers in natural earthy colours and deep burgundy were a huge must when it came to this shoot.

When planning this styled shoot we knew instantly that our “Betty” wedding dress designed by us at House of Boêmia was perfect. Betty contains a bold geometric lace, however she still contains plenty of elegance. The train on the dress has this stunning zigzag edging that just creates so much striking detail all on its own.

Betty can go in 2 different directions, you can dress her up in a leather/denim jacket with chunky Doc Martens creating a very rock and roll vibe or, you could get a beautifully handcrafted crocheted cardigan, cowboy hat and converse to create a beach/desert boho bride.

Betty was design by Bethany & Lauren, the owners of House of Boêmia and made by the very talented dressmaker Elizabeth Van Stone.

A note from the Make up Artist:

“When creating Kayleigh’s makeup, I was inspired by the woodland surroundings of the barn and the beautiful floral arrangements created by Lily & Bee.

The flower crown reminded me of Cicely Mary Barker's cult classic ‘Flower Fairies’ I wanted to create a style that looked like it jumped straight out of a page from one of her books. To create the model's fresh, autumnal complexion, I lightly warmed up the skin with bronzer and added a light dusting of mauve blush. I used pops of Red, crimson, and rose gold to draw attention to the model's eyes.

My top tip for Brides is to work with a makeup artist that will help manage your expectations. In a world of Instagram filters and Photoshop, it can affect our self-esteem and how we view ourselves.

I remind my brides that everything you see on Instagram and Magazines is smoke and mirrors. It is perfectly normal to have texture, lines, and pores because that’s real skin!
